Unmasking the Digital Mirage

Project Update: April 2026

Just a few days ago, we officially concluded the activities for our European project, “Unmasking the Digital Mirage.” It has been an intense and rewarding journey, during which we strengthened our European cooperation and developed essential digital skills for today's youth.

Key Milestones achieved at the project's closing:

  • Enhanced Capacity – our partner organizations now possess more efficient working methodologies and a clear, unified vision for digital citizenship;
  • Impact through Collaboration – our 3-day digital activism campaign successfully mobilized the online community, promoting media literacy in highly interactive and engaging ways.
  • Accessible Resources – all project deliverables—ranging from training methodologies to concrete outcomes—are now publicly available in our project's digital library.

About the Project’s Beginnings (Kick-off Meeting)

Our association is thrilled to announce the launch of “Unmasking the Digital Mirage,” a crucial initiative designed to combat online disinformation and foster critical thinking among youth.

The project's first transnational kick-off meeting took place in Iași, Romania, from April 28–29, 2025. The event brought together project managers, assistant managers, and financial coordinators representing partners from Slovakia, Greece, Serbia, and Romania.

Objectives & Collaboration

The primary goal of this initial meeting was to align the project's strategic vision. By bringing together representatives from STEP – Society for Territorial Progress (Slovakia), INPLANET (Greece), TCS (Serbia), and Asociația Susține (Romania), we successfully mapped out a collaborative roadmap to combat online disinformation, establishing clear deadlines, milestones, and partner roles.

Key Activities

Our productive discussions led to the planning of several essential activities, including:

  • Interactive workshops;
  • specialized training sessions;
  • Online awareness campaigns designed to engage the public;
  • The development of an online resource library filled with practical materials.

These tools are specifically designed to equip young people with the critical skills needed to safely navigate fake news, while cultivating critical thinking and digital responsibility.

Communication & Dissemination

To ensure seamless communication and maximum visibility, the consortium decided to launch a dedicated project website and Facebook page. These public platforms will actively support our mission. Additionally, we refined our dissemination strategies to ensure our message transcends national borders.

The meeting concluded with the finalization of logistical details, the definition of evaluation frameworks, and the delegation of responsibilities. Partners departed with clear action plans and a renewed, shared sense of purpose in our collective journey toward greater digital clarity.

The project “Unmasking the Digital Mirage” is funded by the European Union under project number 2024-3-SK02-KA210-YOU-000279043.
